The 2017 BBQ Competition
The KCBS BBQ Competition is Saturday, September 2nd in the Imperial Lot! We invite YOU be the Judge and chose from delicious varieties of wings and other smoked out favorites sure to tantalize every palate!
The fee for competitors is $100. Judges participate free.
In light of the devastating events in Texas, The Blues, Views and BBQ team and Downtown Merchants Association will be donating proceeds from our “Cooking for A Cause” competition to the victims of Hurricane Harvey. We are deeply saddened that a beloved member of our BBQ community is suffering so greatly, and we feel it is our responsibility to send support to this ravaged area.
In the past “Cooking For A Cause” proceeds were donated to the Women’s Club Food Pantry. We will still reaffirm our partnership with the Women’s Club and the Food Pantry with proceeds from other areas.
Cookin’ for a Cause Entry Fee: $100.00 - 10’ x 10’ site - Chicken, Pork Ribs, Chef’s Choice & Dessert.

* Teams must enter all top line categories to qualify for Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion
*People's Choice Wings Doesn't count towards "Cookin For a Cause" State Championship (Separate Award)
*Must follow Westport/Weston Health Dept Guidelines for People's Choice Participation
*Teams must use charcoal &/or wood heat sources, no gas, electric grills or open pits will be allowed
*Platters no larger than 12 x 18 may be used for Chef’s Choice & Dessert
*All back yard competitors are responsible for bringing their own food items for the competition-
*People’s choice protein to be provided by Event
Set up begins at 6:00 AM on Saturday, Sept 2. Backyard and KCBS teams may come in on Saturday, Sept 2 until 10:00AM; Backyard competition judging begins 2:00 PM Saturday, Sept 2. Awards will be presented at 5:00 PM on Saturday. This is an amateur event with all KCBS rules applicable. Additional rules may be available at sign up. Site must be torn down and free of litter by 10:00 PM on Saturday, Sept 2. No Alcohol permitted on Town of Westport Property. Waiver of Liability: In consideration of you accepting this entry, I, the undersigned, intending to be legally bound, hereby for myself, my heirs, executors and administrators, waive and release any and all rights and claims for damages I may have against Westport Downtown Merchants Associations, Blues, Views & BBQ Committee, The Town Of Westport, Fairfield County, CT, Kansas City Barbeque Society, or any individual or group responsible for the organization or management of Blues, Views & BBQ. I hereby grant permission for Westport Downtown Merchants Association, Blues, Views & BBQ Committee and/or agents authorized by them, to use any photographs, videotapes, motion pictures, recordings and any other record of this event for any legitimate purpose. I agree to abide by the rules and regulations of The Town of Westport, Blues, Views & BBQ, Fairfield County, CT and the Kansas City Barbeque Society (copies may be requested from the KCBS at www.kcbs.us).
Please note that KCBS certified judges will be given preference for contest.(Judges must plan to arrive no later than 12:00 PM on Saturday, Sept 3, 2016 or you may lose your seat.)
A meeting for KCBS contest judges will begin at 1:00 PM Saturday afternoon and competition judging will begin promptly at 2:00 PM, and continue until all categories are completed. Receipt of this form will be indicative of your participation as a judge in this contest. You will be sent a confirmation of your participation. If you cannot attend, for any reason, please call us ASAP at 917-446-2921 and let us know.
